This is the story of someone who is coming from over there, and now belongs here. A tale with neither beginning nor ends, just the story about a foreigner’s looking for identity, a Polish who has to struggle as to not be invisible and flee from memories in a new place, in France, his new country. Far from his home-country, from his roots, his situation is already….hopeless.

Et maintenant je suis d’ici est un conte moderne et décalé basé sur des valeurs humaines communes mais appréhendées de façon différente selon que l’on vit dans tel ou tel pays du monde. C’est ainsi que, malgré nous, l’histoire d’un pays, son développement social, sa politique et ses conditions de vie sont encrés en nous comme un héritage indélébile qui nous poursuit ici comme ailleurs. C’est l’histoire d’un jeune polonais qui vient s’installer en France pour y rechercher une qualité de vie et des opportunités qui n’existent pas en Pologne. Le fardeau de ses racines sur les épaules, son héritage culturel en lui, il découvre très vite qu’en France il se sent polonais, mais avec fatalité, chaque fois qu’il retourne dans son pays, que là-bas, il se sent français... perdant une identité pour une autre, étant parfois le reflet de son éducation, parfois celui de son audace…

L’histoire de ce film est née de la rencontre du producteur réalisateur français Antoine Lhonoré-Piquet et du journaliste polonais Aleksander Lesiak qui lui confia ses interrogations au sujet de sa quête d’identité, partagé entre deux pays qu’il aime et qui ne le lui rendent pas. Entre héritage et sophistication stérile, Aleksander a dessiné un projet de film d’auteur troublant et fascinant, que la double culture des deux réalisateurs entraîne dans un exercice de style basé sur les impressions et les ressentis. L’un apporte sa vision d’imagerie, l’autre sa vision cinématographique. On y retrouve leurs inspirations de films comme Tatarak de Andrzej Wajda et surtout ces perceptions impalpables de l’auteur Andrzej Stasiuk dans Dukla, dont le film reprend quelques textes.

“Now I’m from here” is a modern tale based on common human values but seen from different perspectives according to the country we live in. Therefore and despite our free-will, this is how a country’s history, its social development, its policy and its way of life are forever living in our mind like a deep-seated legacy which follows us wherever we go.This is the story of a young Polish man who comes to settle in France to look for a better way of life and lifetime opportunities which do not exist in Poland. Granted with both his roots’ burden over his shoulders and his cultural legacy, he will soon feel Polish in France, but every time he goes back to his home-country and there only, he will feel like French….loosing an identity for another, being sometimes the own mirror of his education or of his daring…..which is worse.

The idea was born from the encounter between the French producer-director Antoine Lhonoré-Piquet and the Polish journalist Aleksander Lesiak who told him about his questioning on his identity quest, shared between 2 countries which he loves but which do not love him back. Linking inheritance and vain appearances, Alksander drew a disturbing and fascinating film project, which directors’ double cultural background leads to a stylistic composition based on feelings and impressions. One is bringing his imagery vision of things, and the other his cinema conception. One can find their inspirations from movies like Tatarak by Andrzej Wajda especially his untouchable visions from the author Andrzej Stasiuk in his work Dukla which some its script are present in the film.
